Week- 37 I'm officially a Watermelon

This week marked 37 and now I am officially full term! What a wonderful milestone to make. This week was especially important to me because if I went earlier than 37 weeks, I would not be able to have the baby in care of my midwife at her birthing center and would have to have the baby in the hospital. However, no need to worry about that now, since I've successfully made it past 37 weeks. I am now going for weekly checkups and this weeks appointment was great (except for stepping on the scale- which seems to be cruel and unusual punishment at this point in the game). My blood pressure was 122, Mr. Man's HB was 146 and successfully went up to 156 when "bugged" by my midwife. My iron level was 12.8, which is really good. The little guy is in position, but needs to descend more and therefore my midwife encouraged me to walk more to help him boogie on out. I also had an internal exam and I am 1cm dilated and 25% effaced. Which really doesn't mean a lot, since these numbers can change so fast or so slow. I was just happy to know that my body was able to dilate.

Yesterday was also my last day working in the office which also felt like a huge milestone to meet. Though I will be working from home until I have the baby, I am really excited to just be home. It feels good to be home. I like hanging out with my bullies too. They have been somewhat neglected this pregnancy. My attention of course has been on this baby and I really miss my bully time. In case you forgot what they look like, here they are...

I noticed on my pregnancy ticker that I only have 19 more days till my due date. It's a little scary, but so exciting. These last days, I am not sure what to do with myself as I've nested myself out of projects. Perhaps I'll just relax, put my feet up and do a little day dreaming...

The Nursery Is Finished!!

Over the last several months we've been ever so diligently working on the nursery. Here are some photos of the finished product.

Love the paisley design complimented with the Tiffany blues and browns. This crib looks so inviting, I've thought about crawling in and taking a nap. I hope our little man likes it just as much!

I love this little corner. Check out all of the books that our little man received from our showers. The lambs are gifts that were giving out at our shower. The bus is from my Aunt Phyllis and the "Dream" blocks were in our room. I love this little tree decal. We found it at Babies- R- Us.

As you can see, this needs to be filled out a little. The Memory Board was from my cousin Melissa and the little fire truck is actually a piggy bank. Can you see the little elephant frame in the background? It is filled with a picture of Constant when he was just a baby in Taiwan. The frame is from the San Diego Zoo. My friend Kate and I got when we visited the zoo back in 2001 I think.

This is our lovely glider and lamby that was given to us from my dad and Connie.

I'm not exactly sure how this closet got so full, but it really is organized!

Week 36- Can't wait to Meet you Mr. Man

In a couple of days I will have reached week 37 and be considered full term. That date is July 28th to be exact, which just happens to coincide with my Midwifes birthday. Constant and I couldn't be more excited as we approach our safe date. We seem to be as prepared as humanly possible. The Nursery is ready, everything that could possible ever touch our little mans skin has been washed and neatly put away, we have every gadget set up and ready to be used, car seats are here, birthing classes are finished and we've savored every piece of parenting advice that we have received, now it is just a waiting game I suppose. Three weeks never seemed to far away. As the date gets closer I find myself having occasional bouts of "Oh My God, what did I do?". I can't believe I am going to be a mom. I've got a little man to care for and raise. What do I know about raising a little guy into a strong, independent, loving, successful man? If the way I've raised my little bully Bentley is any indication of how I will raise my son, this guy has no chance...how do you spell- spoiled rotten? It's definitely an interesting time as we wait out the third semester. I dream about how our lives will ever be changed, changed for the positive I know, but changed no less. I think about the upcoming events and holidays in our lives and think about how wonderful it will be to be sharing those times with our little boy. I look at my husband and know that he will be the best daddy ever...

Week 34- My Bradley Birthing Class Ends

Last week we finished our final Bradley Birthing Class that we had been taking weekly since mid April. The class was awesome and I highly reccomend it to any couple that has found themselves pregnant...regardless if this is the first time around or seventh time around. The class was filled with a weatlh of information. I started the class in April scared and fearful of birth and now, I am welcoming it. What do they say, knowledge is power? I couldn't agree more. I do know that it is not going to be easy, but I have come to welcome it now that I understand the stages that my body will go through during this process. The class brought Constant and I closer in a way that is hard to describe as well. He will be my coach through this process and I am confident that he will be amazing. Week by week he was equally engaged and made a tremendous effort to learn right beside me. There is no one else that I would rather have by side.
